Sinumerik 802S Software
Gentlemen,
I recently purchase a small used VMC with a Siemens 802S controller. It came with all of the manuals but the Toolbox CD is missing. I contacted Siemens and tech support said I needed the Toolbox to communicate with the controller. They have it available for a little under $300, which is fine, but I thought I would as you guys if there is another way to upload and download information to the machine. I am looking at part programs and parameters type stuff.

Might not be worth fooling with to try and outsmart whatever it is trying to do via the toolbox.
You should be able to see all the parameters on the screen, IIRC.

WINPCIN is the transfer program in the tool kit.
I forget all the stuff it does.
There is also an editor for the PLC Ladder logic in the toolkit, along with a bunch of other stuff.

On my 840D there was a copy of PCIN on the floppy with the backup parameters. PCIN was the DOS version of WINPCIN.

Gentlemen,
Well I have the Toolbox now.. Originally I input the parameters manually into my controller from a written copy. That fixed a lot of issues. I have now uploaded the data CD that came with the machine via RS232 and WINPIN (I think). How do I get into the file systems of the controller to make sure the new parameters are applied? The problems I am still having are: on MDA I have to input in metric even though the machine is set up in inches and the jog is stuck in incremental mode. I can not rapid or continuous jog and the display always says '100 INC'. I have tried everything the manual says I need to do to jog or rapid. I have a feeling there is still a parameter out there that addresses these problems, but I can not fin it. The parameters for axis jog and rapid velocity are all set as they should. The controller is just not using this information.
